The essential Total Station course for anyone involved in groundworks or civil engineering. Learn how to set out and check construction elements. This course takes you from arriving on a brand-new site with no control points to setting out accurately with a total station.
This 3-day course comprises days 3 - 5 of our 5-day Setting Out for Construction programme. It is aimed at anyone who needs to use a total station for setting out or surveying on site, or anyone who is already setting out with a Total Station but would also like to take responsibility for installing control points.
You’ll develop the ability to set up, check the calibration, and use the total station with confidence, install control networks, take surveys, and set out using coordinates or offsets from gridlines. The course teaches all the relevant maths, and each skill is reinforced with practical exercises on real site scenarios.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Position and level a total station accurately over a control point
This covers everything taught on the course and much more, including total station, AutoCAD, machine control, and GNSS
You’ll also join our technical support and mentoring community, giving you ongoing help as you apply your new skills on site.
All our Total Stations are Robotic. If you require a particular make of Total Station for the training, please let us know on booking and we can arrange that. You are also welcome to bring your own.
Funding
CITB has made several updates in recent months to how short-duration training is organised and funded. This has led many people to be uncertain about what they can claim. Funding is still available for many employers, and our courses continue to meet the CITB Assured training standards.
