2-day Civil 3D For Site Engineers (3D Mapping and Modelling)

Learn everything a Site Engineer needs to know about Civil 3D. We start at the basics from general settings and commands and gradually build up to working at an advanced level. You will learn how to bring in and export your surveys and use that data to produce professional 3D models and drawings. You will receive 3 months free 'Community' SOFC membership and you will be issued with a CITB certificate on completion of this course.

  • Import data from the total station
  • Create tables of relevant data
  • Use CAD tools effectively
  • Retrospectively attribute codes to points or recode points
  • Create Cut/Fill colourised models and create the cute/fill line for setting out purposes
  • Export model information for use in Leica/ Topcon/Trimble machine control
  • Annotate levels
  • Georeference surveys and data
  • Create annotated sections
  • Select points from an electronic file and export them to a setting out schedule
  • Create a contoured plan
  • Compare volumes between subsequent surveys e.g. of stockpiles and to datum levels
  • Retrospectively insert or edit break lines
  • Carry out visual checks on 3D models
  • Produce a level difference model and create a ‘heat map’ (aka isopachyte) of as-built Vs design levels
  • Isolate relevant information
  • Check and convert units
  • Export compatible files of data for use in field controllers and machine control systems including strings, polylines and design surfaces
  • Describe the potential technical and contractual pitfalls of working with electronic information as opposed to hard copy drawings
  • Create drawings and deliverables and present them correctly
